With the growing demands of the modern world, we are much more prone to having a lower vitamin C status. There are many reasons for this including frequent infections, [i] environmental toxins, [ii] medications, stress, and chronic disease. Given the multiple benefits of vitamin C, we could all benefit from some supplementation and Liposomal Vitamin C is a perfect solution, ensuring the most effective absorption, delivery to the cells, and long-lasting effect.
HARNESSING THE POWER OF LIPOSOMAL TECHNOLOGY FOR OPTIMUM SUPPLEMENTATION
Liposomal technology is a way of optimising the bioavailability of an orally ingested nutrients, by packing it into a tiny structure called a liposome. A liposome is a sphere composed of a type of lipid called a phospholipid, mainly phosphatidylcholine, which contains a small compartment where nutrients can be incorporated. This phospholipid 'shell' protects its special cargo and helps to carry the nutrients across the lining of the digestive tract. Once absorbed, the liposomes circulate around the body and are distributed to tissues and organs. Liposomes are deliberately made using the same phospholipids as our cell membranes, which means they can merge with them and deposit the contained nutrients directly into the cell.
When we consume vitamin C, it is delivered to the gut lining where it is transported into the bloodstream by specialised transporters. There is only a limited number of those transporters available, which is why it is mostly recommended to supplement with vitamin C in a 'little and often' fashion to optimise absorption. Liposomal Vitamin C bypasses that process completely, which means up to 91% of vitamin C is absorbed. This makes it the optimum 'one a day' solution for long lasting results, with no need to take it multiple times a day!
Not all liposomes are created equal though! The liposomal technology used to produce our Liposomal Vitamin C is superior to others on the market because it:
- Produces liposomes which are perfectly sized for oral delivery and stable until the expiry date of the product.
- Provides a high density of liposomes per daily dosage, ensuring optimum dose of vitamin C
- A preliminary internal study has been conducted using our Liposomal Vitamin C and other vitamin C products available on the market. It demonstrated that its absorption and blood levels were far superior:
- Brand A = Standard, non-liposomal vitamin C
- Brand B = BioCare Liposomal Vitamin C
- Brand C = Liposomal Vitamin C
- Brand D = Liposomal Vitamin C
- PLAC = placebo
IS LIPOSOMAL VITAMIN C RIGHT FOR YOU?
As the optimum and most effective vitamin C product, it is a great supplement for everyone to use on a daily basis, but the liposomal formulation can be particularly beneficial for certain people:
- Individuals with digestive and absorption difficulties – if you have digestive symptoms, your body may be less efficient at absorbing nutrients so a liposomal form will be ideal.
- If you find it difficult to swallow capsules or tablets
- If you have chronic health problems you may benefit from the long-lasting effect of Liposomal Vitamin C for that continuous immune and antioxidant support.
- If you want to support your skin, joints, and nervous system. Liposomal Vitamin C also contains a good dose of phosphatidyl choline which makes up the liposomes. Phosphatidyl choline is a natural component of our cells as well as nervous tissue so you'd be providing the necessary building blocks for your cells and tissues.
- If you prefer a 'one a day' option – thanks to the long-lasting effect of liposomal vitamin C, there is no need for taking multiple doses throughout the day.
- Busy and stressful lifestyle – are you stressed a lot? Do you do a lot of exercise? Both of those things increase your requirements for vitamin C so ensuring optimal blood levels give you that extra protection your body needs.
We hope you feel as excited about this product as we are! If you have any questions about how and when to use it, we encourage you to call or email our Clinical Nutrition team who are here to support you.
